Cygnett Hotels Expands into Madhya Pradesh with New Boutique Resort in Ujjain
Cygnett Hotels & Resorts has announced the signing of Cygnett Retreat TM Collection by Wyndham Ujjain, a premium boutique resort that strengthens the group’s footprint in one of India’s most important pilgrimage destinations. This greenfield project highlights the company’s strategy to grow across key religious and leisure hubs in the country.
Located in Ujjain, a historic city of immense significance for Hindu pilgrims and host to the Simhastha Mahakumbh 2028, the new resort will cater to both religious visitors and leisure travelers. The development comes at a time when the Madhya Pradesh government is investing heavily in infrastructure projects to boost tourism and connectivity in the region. Ujjain is also emerging as a textile hub, further driving business and tourism demand.
The property will showcase Santorini-style architecture combined with tropical forest-themed landscaping, offering a tranquil environment for guests. Positioned under the Cygnett Retreat brand, it aims to fill a market gap by delivering boutique resort experiences with a focus on comfort and convenience.
This opening also aligns with Cygnett’s broader expansion strategy to become a 100-plus hotel group in the coming years. Through its strategic alliance with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, the company will introduce global brands like La Quinta by Wyndham and Registry Collection Hotels to India and the subcontinent, with plans to add over 60 hotels across India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Nepal within the next decade.
