Fairfield reaches 100 hotels in Greater China
Fairfield by Marriott has celebrated the opening of its 100th hotel in Greater China with the debut of Fairfield by Marriott Chongqing Nan’an District. The milestone highlights the brand’s rapid regional expansion, with its presence doubling from 50 hotels in 2024 to 100 hotels in just two years. As part of Marriott Bonvoy’s global portfolio of more than 30 brands, Fairfield continues to build momentum across transportation hubs, emerging urban districts and high-demand travel destinations. The opening also reinforces the brand’s role as a key growth engine for Marriott International in the select-service segment.
The launch of Fairfield by Marriott Chongqing Nan’an District marks a significant development for Fairfield by Marriott in Greater China. Since entering the market in 2017, the brand has expanded steadily by focusing on simple, reliable stays and warm hospitality inspired by the original Fairfield Farm. Its growth reflects strong guest recognition and owner interest in a brand positioned around comfort, efficiency and nature-inspired simplicity.
The 100-hotel milestone is especially notable because Fairfield by Marriott reached 50 hotels in Greater China in 2024. Adding another 50 hotels within two years shows the speed of development across the region. The brand has broadened its footprint in key locations including Beijing Capital International Airport, Shanghai Xujiahui, Xiong’an New Area and Hangzhou Future Sci-Tech City, as well as travel destinations such as Nanxun in Huzhou, Hengdian in Zhejiang and Xiapu in Fujian.
Expansion is also continuing into new destinations. In 2026, Fairfield by Marriott is set to debut in Zhangjiajie, Hunan, adding another leisure destination to its growing map in Greater China. This planned opening supports the brand’s wider strategy of entering both established business markets and popular tourism locations.
The milestone property, Fairfield by Marriott Chongqing Nan’an District, is located at No. 9 Jiangnan Avenue in the heart of Nan’an District in Chongqing, a city described in the announcement as China’s famous 3D Magic City. The hotel is close to Jiang’an Tianjie, Shenghui Plaza and the Chongqing International Convention & Exhibition Center, giving it relevance for both business and leisure travellers.
Connectivity is a key advantage for the hotel. Fairfield by Marriott Chongqing Nan’an District is 12 kilometres from Chongqing North Station and 500 metres from Nanping Station on Metro Line 3. This location supports convenient access across the city while positioning the hotel near important commercial, retail and event destinations.
The property offers 182 guest rooms and is designed to provide a warm and comfortable stay. Facilities include Fairfield Restaurant, meeting rooms, a 24-hour fitness centre and self-service laundry. These amenities reflect the brand’s focus on practical comfort and a home-away-from-home experience for travellers looking for dependable select-service hotels.
The announcement also highlights Fairfield’s continued product evolution in Greater China. Through localised innovations, product upgrades and design flexibility, the brand is adapting to changing market dynamics and the expectations of today’s travellers. Its efficient pre-opening preparation and operational advantages have also attracted interest from investors and owners, with the first hotel using the upgraded design expected to open this summer.
To mark the milestone, all Fairfield by Marriott hotels in Greater China are introducing guest experiences built around the brand’s tradition of heartfelt hospitality. Guests are welcomed with a calming arrival experience, including a signature Blue Ridge Mountains Scent Card and a welcome basket with local treats. Interactive installations also invite guests to share hospitality stories for the chance to receive curated gifts.
The announcement names Betty Tian, Managing Vice President, Customer, Greater China, Marriott International, and Jacky Du, Regional Vice President of Greater China, Franchise Operation, Service and Owner Relations, as key executives connected to the milestone. Their comments position the opening as evidence of Fairfield’s strong regional resonance, Marriott’s diversified brand portfolio and the continued momentum of the select-service segment in Greater China.
With Fairfield by Marriott Chongqing Nan’an District, the brand becomes the third within Marriott International’s Greater China region to reach 100 hotel openings. The milestone strengthens Fairfield’s position as Marriott’s largest brand globally and reinforces its role in hotel development, select-service hospitality, Greater China hotel growth and reliable travel experiences shaped by the beauty of simplicity.
