Garner Hotels expands to Ahmedabad
IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed Garner Hotel Ahmedabad Motera, further expanding its newest midscale conversion brand in India. Scheduled to welcome guests in 2029, the 40-room hotel will be developed by Devpriya Buildcon and managed by United Hospitality Management (UHM) India. The property will mark the first Garner hotel in Ahmedabad and further strengthen the relationship between IHG and UHM in the Indian market. Located at the Motera-Sabarmati junction, the hotel will benefit from proximity to major sports, transport and commercial infrastructure.
Garner Hotel Ahmedabad Motera will feature 40 modern rooms designed around comfort and functionality. The hotel will form part of a wider mixed-use development combining retail, banquet and restaurant facilities with a hospital, creating a broader integrated destination for guests and visitors.
Its location in North Ahmedabad will place the hotel close to several important demand generators. These include the Narendra Modi Stadium, the Sabarmati Bullet Train hub and surrounding corporate districts.
Ahmedabad is one of India's major economic and industrial centres, supported by sectors including pharmaceuticals, textiles, information technology, infrastructure and corporate headquarters. Continued investment in transport and sports infrastructure is also contributing to rising travel demand across the city.
The signing represents another stage in the rapid development of Garner, IHG's midscale conversion brand. Designed around an accessible price point, the concept focuses on straightforward stays built around essential traveller priorities including convenient locations, comfortable sleep and breakfast.
Garner properties also benefit from IHG's wider operating standards, technology systems, distribution capabilities and loyalty ecosystem, allowing independent or converted hotels to enter an international branded platform.
The Ahmedabad agreement reflects the brand's conversion-friendly development model, which IHG sees as particularly well suited to high-growth Indian markets. By allowing existing or independently developed properties to transition efficiently into the brand, Garner provides another route for IHG to accelerate expansion in the country's midscale segment.
The project also strengthens IHG's partnership with United Hospitality Management India, one of the company's trusted third-party hotel management partners. UHM supports IHG's growth through local operating expertise, owner-focused management solutions and experience managing internationally branded hospitality assets.
Deepika Arora, Managing Director of United Hospitality Management - India, is overseeing the company's continued collaboration with IHG as the two groups expand their presence across India. UHM's approach focuses on operational performance, long-term asset value and guest experience.
The owning partner, Devpriya Buildcon, is represented by Prashant Thakkar. The development reflects growing owner interest in internationally branded hotels in Ahmedabad as economic expansion, infrastructure investment and visitor numbers continue to support the local hospitality market.
The future Garner property will join an existing IHG network in Ahmedabad that includes Crowne Plaza Ahmedabad City Centre and Holiday Inn Express Ahmedabad Prahlad Nagar. Holiday Inn Ahmedabad is also currently in the development pipeline.
The signing contributes to a much broader period of expansion for IHG Hotels & Resorts in India. The company currently operates 53 hotels across six brands in the country and has a pipeline of 110 additional hotels expected to become operational over the next three to five years.
With Garner Hotel Ahmedabad Motera, IHG is extending its brand coverage in Ahmedabad while strengthening its position in India's growing midscale hospitality segment. The project combines the flexibility of Garner's conversion model with UHM's local management expertise and a location supported by some of North Ahmedabad's most important infrastructure and commercial developments.
