Hotel Victoria Gran Meliá reopens, ushering in a new era of luxury in Palma
Hotel Victoria Gran Meliá, a symbol of Palma’s golden age and enduring sophistication, has officially reopened following an extensive renovation. Reimagined to honor its legacy while embracing modern luxury, the landmark hotel stands poised once again as a central figure in Mallorca’s cultural and social scene. With renewed elegance, panoramic views, and a strong connection to local heritage, the hotel promises a revitalized experience for both locals and global travelers.

On March 31st, Hotel Victoria Gran Meliá reopened its doors in Palma de Mallorca, restoring one of the city’s most iconic properties to its former glory. Originally established in the 1920s as Villa Victoria—an exclusive annex to Palma’s legendary Gran Hotel—the hotel has long been associated with the island’s upper echelons of society. Through a €12 million investment from Victoria Hotels & Resorts, Meliá, Bankinter Investment, and GMA, the property has been completely transformed, offering a new benchmark for luxury hospitality in the Balearic capital.
Designed by the acclaimed ASAH architectural studio led by Álvaro and Adriana Sans, the renovation balances historical preservation with contemporary style. The property now features 171 rooms, each reimagined with elevated finishes and exceptional comfort, and nearly all providing sweeping views of Palma’s harbor and the majestic cathedral.
At the heart of the hotel’s social revival is the new Victoria Grand Café. Inspired by the grandeur of the original Villa Victoria, this all-day dining venue celebrates Mallorca’s culinary heritage with dishes crafted from the finest local ingredients. Its expansive terrace, a gathering place in decades past, has been restored as a vibrant meeting point for guests and locals alike.
Hotel Victoria Gran Meliá is not just a place to stay—it is a cultural gateway to Palma. The hotel has partnered with local institutions such as the Paco de Lucía Festival to create exclusive experiences that immerse guests in the city’s dynamic artistic scene. From gallery tours and gourmet excursions to bespoke shopping routes, the hotel curates activities that showcase the soul of the city.
In a nod to its storied past, the reopening also marks Gran Meliá’s first use of artificial intelligence to revive iconic moments from the hotel’s heyday in the 1950s to 1970s. Drawing from historic photographs and archives, the campaign uses AI to recreate the ambiance of the era—capturing the fashion, flair, and glamour that defined the hotel’s golden years. This initiative reflects Gran Meliá’s innovative approach to storytelling and brand identity, bridging tradition with technology.
With its heritage, architecture, and service now elevated to modern standards, Hotel Victoria Gran Meliá emerges as more than a luxury destination—it is a celebration of Palma’s cultural renaissance, rooted in history yet designed for the future.
