The Mexican Caribbean has welcomed a new all-inclusive retreat with the opening of Iberostar Selection Riviera Cancun, a five-star beachfront resort near Puerto Morelos. Operated by Iberostar Hotels & Resorts, the property offers 444 suites designed for both couples and families, all located just 20 minutes from Cancun International Airport. The opening expands the group’s footprint to 12 hotels and more than 4,400 rooms in Mexico, reinforcing the country as a strategic market for the brand. The resort also deepens Iberostar’s commitment to responsible tourism through its Wave of Change sustainability movement.

Set in a privileged location on the Riviera Maya coastline, Iberostar Selection Riviera Cancun is positioned for guests seeking a classic Caribbean beach holiday with contemporary comforts. All 444 suites include a jacuzzi, with configurations that range from family rooms to swim-up suites offering direct access to semi-private pools, as well as oceanfront suites for those prioritizing sea views. Operating under the Iberostar Selection category, the resort is conceived as a relaxed, upscale environment that serves both romantic getaways and family vacations.

The culinary offer is a central part of the guest experience. Alongside an international buffet restaurant and a wood-fired pizzeria, the resort features four specialty venues: L’Oliveto, focused on Italian cuisine, Nopal with signature Mexican dishes, a Caribbean restaurant highlighting seafood and regional recipes, and Marinete with Spanish specialties. These are complemented by six bars, including three swim-up bars for poolside cocktails, and a Star Café concept for coffee and light bites throughout the day.

Beyond the resort’s immediate beachfront setting on the Caribbean Sea, its location serves as a base for exploring some of the region’s main natural attractions, including the Great Mayan Reef and the Route of the Cenotes. This positioning aligns the property with travelers interested in diving, snorkeling and nature excursions as part of their stay, while still providing a full-service all-inclusive environment on site.

The opening of Iberostar Selection Riviera Cancun is part of a selective expansion strategy in which Iberostar Hotels & Resorts grows in both new destinations and established markets. With this addition, the company now manages over 4,400 rooms and employs more than 5,800 people in Mexico, and the new resort is expected to generate around 650 jobs, supporting local economic development. According to the company, the project reflects a focus on service excellence, memorable guest experiences and development of local talent.

Responsibility and sustainability are embedded in the resort’s operating model. In preparation for the launch, Iberostar implemented an intensive training program across September and October for all staff, introducing the brand’s philosophy and values together with specific instruction for each operational department. The resort also incorporates key principles of the Iberostar Wave of Change movement, operating without single-use plastics in the guest experience, offering purified drinking water stations and serving responsibly sourced seafood. A dedicated 3R Team manages waste sorting and categorization, supporting the company’s objective of sending zero waste to landfill and reinforcing Iberostar’s positioning as an advocate of more responsible coastal tourism.
