IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced a strategic collaboration with Arini Capital Management to support selected growth opportunities across EMEA. The collaboration gives IHG access to flexible institutional capital that can support third-party owners in delivering high-quality hotel projects. The initial focus will be on major urban and resort locations across Europe. The agreement is designed to complement IHG’s asset-light strategy while strengthening its ability to grow in key markets.

The collaboration brings together IHG’s hotel development experience, brand scale and global commercial platform with Arini’s flexible credit capabilities. For hotel owners and partners, this structure may provide access to financing solutions that support strategic projects in markets where capital flexibility can be an important factor in development, conversion or repositioning.

The agreement is aligned with IHG Hotels & Resorts’ asset-light approach. Rather than acquiring or owning hotel real estate directly, IHG can use the collaboration to help unlock growth through third-party ownership structures. This allows the company to expand its brand footprint while remaining focused on management, franchising, distribution, loyalty and brand performance.

The initial focus on Europe reflects the scale of IHG’s existing platform in the region. The company already has nearly 1,250 open and pipeline hotels across more than 40 countries in Europe. These hotels span four major segments: Luxury & Lifestyle, Premium, Essentials and Suites, giving IHG a broad base for further growth across both city and resort destinations.

Arini Capital Management brings a specialist credit platform to the partnership. The company is described as a leading alternative credit manager with approximately $21 billion in assets under management. Its investment strategies include long-short credit, structured credit, opportunistic credit, direct lending and asset-based finance.

Founded in 2021, Arini has focused primarily on European credit markets and operates with a foundation in fundamental credit analysis. The firm has global operations in London, New York, Abu Dhabi, Warsaw and Jersey, giving it an international platform for credit and asset-based investment activity.

Willemijn Geels, vice president, development, Europe at IHG Hotels & Resorts, is named in the announcement in connection with the company’s focus on unlocking strategic growth while preserving its asset-light model. Nabil Aquedim, head of real estate and asset-based strategies at Arini, is also named in relation to the financing opportunities and long-term partnership ambitions behind the collaboration.

For IHG, the collaboration with Arini strengthens its ability to support owners in competitive European markets where development opportunities can depend on access to flexible capital. It also reinforces the company’s broader strategy of using brand strength, development expertise and owner partnerships to expand across priority destinations in EMEA hospitality.
