The Holiday Inn Express brand, with more than 3,200 hotels worldwide, is IHG’s largest and fastest-growing, known for offering smart, simple hospitality that blends efficiency and comfort. In India, the brand already has 17 operating properties and 21 more in the pipeline, with the upcoming Gwalior location set to follow the Generation 5 design. This latest concept emphasizes refreshed interiors, flexible workspaces, plush bedding, modern amenities, and the brand’s signature Express Start™ Breakfast, ensuring an elevated stay for both business and leisure travelers.

Strategically located on Jhansi Road, one of Gwalior’s main arterial corridors, the hotel will feature a dining outlet, event space, a meeting room, and a fitness center, designed to serve both corporate and leisure demand. The city, often called the “City of Forts,” is home to landmarks such as Gwalior Fort and Sun Temple, while also emerging as an industrial hub with strong growth in manufacturing, agro-industries, and infrastructure. The ongoing expansion of Gwalior Airport further positions the city as a gateway to regional attractions like Orchha, Datia, and Kuno National Park.

According to Sudeep Jain, Managing Director, South West Asia, IHG Hotels & Resorts, the signing highlights IHG’s strategy to deliver “more where it matters most” in India’s dynamic secondary cities. Stakeholders of Dutta Buildcon Pvt. Ltd. emphasized that the project will bring international-standard hospitality to Gwalior, while contributing to the city’s infrastructure and tourism development.

IHG currently operates 51 hotels across six brands in India, including InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Six Senses, voco, Holiday Inn Resort, and Holiday Inn Express, with a robust pipeline of 72 hotels scheduled to open in the next 3–5 years. The addition of Holiday Inn Express & Suites Gwalior strengthens this growth trajectory and enhances IHG’s presence in Central India.
