IHG brings Vignette Collection to Malaysia with Mangala Estate Kuantan, a nature-rich villa retreat set for 2027
IHG Hotels & Resorts is introducing the Vignette Collection to Malaysia with the signing of Mangala Estate Kuantan, a 67-villa sanctuary in Pahang. The property will enter IHG’s system in mid-2026 and, following a planned refurbishment, rebrand in mid-2027 as Mangala Estate Kuantan, Vignette Collection by IHG. Partnering with the FRANKY Group of Companies, the move extends IHG’s Luxury & Lifestyle footprint into a destination known for scenic beaches, waterfalls and nature-driven escapes. Conceived around land and water regeneration, the resort aligns with Vignette’s “Means for Good” hallmark, blending eco-luxury with a strong sense of place.
The resort’s 67 elegantly designed villas are set within a serene estate of lush greenery and palm plantations that shelter more than 100 bird species, reinforcing its nature-led positioning. Accommodation will span single villas with private pools, tranquil lake-view villas, and spacious two-bedroom options with private pools, catering to couples, families and small groups. As part of the Vignette Collection, the property will add an all-day dining restaurant and poolside bar serving farm-to-table, locally inspired menus, alongside tailored private dining experiences that complement its intimate hospitality style. Wellness programming will anchor the stay with a serene spa, dedicated facilities, and two picturesque lakes for kayaking and light water activities. For events, versatile venues will accommodate up to 400 guests, enabling retreats, team-building and celebrations framed by a calm, natural backdrop.
Strategically, the signing marks IHG’s first resort in Kuantan and its entry into Pahang, supporting state ambitions to grow visitor appeal. The resort will initially retain its original name upon joining IHG in 2026, then transition to Mangala Estate Kuantan, Vignette Collection after the 2027 renovation. The agreement strengthens IHG’s Malaysia Luxury & Lifestyle pipeline, which includes InterContinental Kuala Lumpur and Hotel Indigo Kuala Lumpur on the Park already trading, and upcoming openings such as Kimpton Naluria Kuala Lumpur. Globally, Vignette continues to scale with 27 open hotels and a 41-strong pipeline, offering independent owners collection-brand reach while preserving distinctive identity. The partnership underscores confidence in Kuantan’s demand outlook and positions Mangala Estate Kuantan to remain a leading, sustainability-minded retreat following its refresh, with leadership involvement from Bryan Chan (IHG) and Dato' Franky Chua (FRANKY Group) shaping the next chapter.
