The signing of Esperança Hotel, Vignette Collection marks another step in the growth of Vignette Collection across Portugal and Southern Europe. The brand is built around distinctive independent properties that retain their individual identity while joining IHG’s global platform. In Braga, this model is being applied to a hotel created through the conversion of two existing buildings, allowing the future property to preserve a strong sense of place within one of Portugal’s most historic cities.

The hotel will be located in the city centre of Braga, described in the announcement as a hidden gem and a destination with deep historical character. With 58 keys, Esperança Hotel, Vignette Collection will bring a new luxury and lifestyle hotel offer to the market. Its positioning reflects the brand’s emphasis on individuality, discovery and memorable stays shaped by the character of each destination.

The new signing joins a growing Portuguese Vignette Collection portfolio that already includes Convent Square Lisbon, Vignette Collection, Casa da Companhia Hotel & Spa, Vignette Collection and the recently opened Onyria Marinha Cascais, Vignette Collection. Together, these properties show how IHG Hotels & Resorts is using the collection brand to expand through distinctive hotels in different Portuguese destinations.

For IHG, Portugal is described as a priority market. The signing strengthens the company’s Luxury & Lifestyle momentum in the country and gives Vignette Collection a stronger national presence. It also reflects owner interest in a model that allows independent hotels to keep their character, style and name while gaining access to IHG’s scale, systems and global reach.

Hotel Janes Lda. is the owner of the property, with Luciana Borges named in the announcement as CEO. The hotel will be operated by Amazing Evolution, an independent hotel management company. This structure brings together local ownership, specialist hotel management and the international platform of IHG Hotels & Resorts.

The signing also supports the wider growth of Vignette Collection, which launched in 2021 and has already passed the halfway point in its initial target of reaching 100 hotels within ten years. Across Europe, Esperança Hotel, Vignette Collection will join a portfolio of six open hotels and 17 properties in the pipeline. Globally, the brand includes 34 hotels in 17 countries, with a further 45 properties in development.

With its planned opening in September 2026, Esperança Hotel, Vignette Collection will add a new independent-style luxury address to Braga while reinforcing IHG’s strategy in Portugal. The project combines conversion, local identity, international distribution and the growing appeal of collection brands for owners seeking flexibility without losing the personality of their hotels.
