IHG to open Crowne Plaza Budva on Montenegro’s Adriatic coast in 2026
IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed Crowne Plaza Budva, expanding its presence on Montenegro’s Adriatic coast and strengthening its branded footprint across the Balkans. Expected to open in Q1 2026, the 81 room hotel will occupy a prime position on Budva’s lively Slovenska obala promenade, just 70 metres from the sea. Developed in collaboration with Uniprom Hoteli d.o.o., the property will bring Crowne Plaza’s refreshed premium positioning to Montenegro’s foremost tourism hub. With this signing, IHG’s open and pipeline portfolio in Montenegro increases to eight properties, supporting wider regional growth.
The future Crowne Plaza Budva will join a European network of more than 110 open and pipeline Crowne Plaza hotels, and will sit alongside four existing IHG properties in Montenegro – Regent Porto Montenegro, voco Podgorica, Crowne Plaza Podgorica and Iberostar Waves Herceg Novi. Located close to Budva’s Old Town and City Marina, the hotel is set within an emerging tourist district surrounded by parks, restaurants and hospitality venues, positioning guests at the heart of the city’s coastal energy. Inside, the design will align with Crowne Plaza’s New Modern aesthetic, pairing contemporary, purpose driven spaces with the natural beauty of the Adriatic shoreline to cater to modern blended travellers combining business and leisure.
Dining and social life will centre on a destination restaurant with uninterrupted sea views, offering a modern, welcoming setting for relaxed meals throughout the day. The hotel’s terrace, already regarded as one of the most sophisticated spots on Budva’s promenade, is expected to act as a favourite gathering place for both local residents and visiting guests. For corporate and event demand, Crowne Plaza Budva will provide a range of flexible, technology enabled meeting spaces suitable for small seminars, workshops, larger conferences, exhibitions and social events, with layouts and equipment designed to support productivity and connection.
The signing underlines IHG Hotels & Resorts’ strategy to grow responsibly across the Balkans, where the company now has 12 open hotels and a further 10 in development across Bulgaria, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia. According to Willemijn Geels, Vice President Development, Europe, the addition of Crowne Plaza Budva reinforces the city’s role as a cornerstone of Montenegro’s tourism industry and highlights its suitability for a trusted global premium brand. For owners Veselin Pejović and Stevan Pejović of Uniprom Hoteli d.o.o., the project is intended to showcase the best of Montenegrin hospitality by blending modern comfort with the distinctive charm of the Adriatic coast, establishing a new benchmark for upscale stays in one of the country’s most dynamic coastal cities.
