InterContinental Debuts in Brisbane, Ushering in a New Era of Luxury in Queensland
InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, part of the IHG Hotels & Resorts luxury portfolio, has officially opened InterContinental Brisbane, marking the brand’s first presence in Queensland’s capital. Situated in a prime CBD location on Elizabeth Street, the new 319-room property introduces the city to the brand’s signature blend of global sophistication and cultural depth. The opening strengthens InterContinental’s presence in Queensland alongside existing resorts in the Whitsundays and Gold Coast.
With the official debut of InterContinental Brisbane, IHG Hotels & Resorts has brought its flagship luxury brand to the heart of Brisbane for the first time. Located on Elizabeth Street within the high-end Queen Street Mall precinct, the property offers 319 rooms and suites that blend modern comfort with panoramic city views, setting a new standard for urban luxury in the city.
The opening adds to IHG’s growing luxury and lifestyle presence in the region, joining InterContinental Hayman Island and InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort. InterContinental Brisbane occupies a 25-storey tower that features standout amenities including an outdoor lap pool, fully equipped gymnasium, and expansive meeting and event facilities, including one of Brisbane’s largest ballrooms and 19 dedicated meeting rooms.
A highlight of the hotel is the Club InterContinental lounge, perched on the top floor with sweeping river and skyline views. Guests opting for this exclusive offering enjoy personalized check-in, daily breakfast, evening canapés, and tailored services that reflect the InterContinental brand’s commitment to elevated guest experiences.
The onsite Latitude 27 Bar & Kitchen, serving as both a lobby bar and an all-day dining venue, showcases the brand’s approach to refined culinary offerings with a contemporary Australian menu and a focus on local ingredients.
Starting in 2026, the hotel will undergo a two-year transformation led by a vision to further elevate the luxury guest experience while preserving the building’s architectural heritage, originally conceived by modernist architect Harry Seidler. The renovation is part of a broader redevelopment by ISPT, aimed at revitalizing the Elizabeth Street precinct into a dynamic tourism and lifestyle hub.
InterContinental Brisbane’s opening reflects IHG’s broader commitment to luxury in Australasia, where the group currently operates 69 hotels across nine brands with a further 26 properties in the pipeline. Rooms at InterContinental Brisbane are available starting from AUD $319 per night, positioning the hotel as a new benchmark for sophisticated urban stays in Australia.
