InterContinental to Debut in Manchester with Rebrand of Landmark Deansgate Hotel
IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced the signing of InterContinental Manchester - Deansgate, marking the fifth InterContinental property in the UK and Ireland. The 264-room hotel, currently operating under a different name, will undergo a full transformation before being officially rebranded by 2027. The hotel is owned by Blue Manchester Hotel Limited and remains open during its transition.
This addition further strengthens IHG’s position as the largest global hotel company in the UK and Ireland, where it operates 363 hotels and has 33 in the pipeline. It also significantly enhances IHG’s luxury and lifestyle offering in the region, adding to its current portfolio of 27 high-end properties, which already includes InterContinental London - The O2, InterContinental London Park Lane, InterContinental Edinburgh The George, and InterContinental Dublin.
Strategically located on Deansgate, one of Manchester’s most historic and vibrant streets, the hotel will be a prime choice for both leisure and business travelers. It offers close proximity to cultural attractions, upscale dining, retail outlets, and Spinningfields, the city’s financial hub. For corporate guests, the hotel also provides easy access to Manchester’s main conference centers.
Occupying 22 floors of the iconic Beetham Tower, one of the tallest buildings outside London, InterContinental Manchester - Deansgate promises guests panoramic views of the city skyline. Upon completion of its refurbishment, it will feature a ground-floor podium bar and restaurant, an indoor pool, sauna, steam room, and a fitness centre. Business and event travellers can take advantage of the hotel’s 18 meeting rooms with a total of 1,821 sqm of event space.
This new property joins a wave of growth for InterContinental, which is currently undergoing a global brand transformation aimed at reshaping the luxury travel experience for today’s travellers. The Manchester property is part of a broader regional expansion, contributing to IHG’s 105+ open luxury hotels and 72 in development across Europe. It will join 34 InterContinental hotels already operating on the continent, alongside notable new developments such as InterContinental Chantilly Chateau Mont Royal and InterContinental Belgrade.
