Palazzo San Gottardo returns as Radisson Collection’s new Lake Como address
Radisson Hotel Group has opened Palazzo San Gottardo Lake Como, A Radisson Collection Hotel, marking the brand’s debut in Como and strengthening its presence in one of Italy’s most iconic Lake Como destinations. Set between Piazza Cavour and Piazza Volta, the restored palazzo sits steps from the historic center and positions itself as a new reference point for understated luxury hospitality on the lake. The hotel launches with 70 rooms and suites, three dining concepts including a rooftop restaurant, and an intimate urban spa. The opening also introduces curated private lake experiences designed to connect guests with the destination beyond the city streets.
Originally opened in 1926, the building has been reimagined to balance architectural heritage with contemporary elegance. The restoration preserves key exterior elements such as original façades, rounded corner volumes, stone cornices, and geometric motifs, while modernizing the interiors with clean lines, premium materials, and a warm palette. Inside, Italian craftsmanship and bespoke furnishings shape a refined atmosphere where historic character and modern design coexist. Guest rooms and suites are designed around views over the city, historic piazzas, and surrounding streets, with select suites adding generous living areas and furnished balconies for longer stays and celebratory trips.
Food and beverage is central to the positioning, with three distinct venues built to capture both guest spend and local demand. Radiante, led by Chef Danilo Vella, anchors the hotel’s fine dining identity with contemporary Italian technique and regional influence. Above the city, Lumi Rooftop Bar & Restaurant adds panoramic views and a more social rhythm with elevated light dishes, signature cocktails, and curated wines. At street level, Caffè Lariano, led by Chef Mirko Gatti, is framed as a luxury bistro with an international touch, emphasizing circular cuisine, seasonal ingredients, and a zero-waste philosophy supported by an in-house pastry laboratory.
Wellbeing is designed as a core part of the stay rather than an add-on. SPA Fontea is presented as an intimate urban sanctuary inspired by natural springs, offering personalized treatments, a relaxation lounge, and direct access to a dedicated indoor water relaxation area. A modern fitness studio with cardio and strength equipment supports routine-driven travel, while the warm-water setting is positioned for year-round comfort in a destination known for seasonal peaks.
The hotel is also equipped for small-scale, high-value gatherings. Sala Cavour provides a 40 m² space for up to 20 guests, supported by high-definition presentation technology, natural light, and bespoke catering options. For private celebrations, the property highlights elegant settings for intimate weddings and special occasions backed by a dedicated events team, aligning with Como’s demand for discreet, premium celebrations.
Location-led storytelling rounds out the guest proposition. From the hotel, visitors can walk to the Duomo di Como, Teatro Sociale, the lakeside promenade, and the funicular to Brunate, while also discovering artisan districts, the Silk Museum, and local markets. For on-water exploration, the hotel offers access to private lake tours through a partnership with Tasell, supported by a dedicated pier located less than 100 meters from the property, enabling tailored routes to lakeside villages including Torno, Blevio, and Moltrasio. Operational leadership for the opening is led on property by Guglielmo Sartoni.
