Patina Hotels & Resorts Launches First Urban Retreat with Patina Osaka
Patina Hotels & Resorts, part of the Capella Hotel Group, has officially opened its first urban property in the heart of Osaka, Japan. Rising 20 storeys with panoramic views of Osaka Castle, Patina Osaka delivers a bold fusion of transformative luxury, advanced wellness, and immersive cultural expression, marking a significant expansion for the brand beyond its original Maldives location.
The newly unveiled Patina Osaka offers 221 meticulously designed rooms and suites, combining the essence of Japanese kisetsukan—the appreciation of seasonal change—with forward-thinking architectural and interior concepts. Created in partnership with Jun Mitsui & Associates Architects and Strickland, the building pays homage to Osaka Castle, incorporating visual elements such as moat-inspired water features and copper textures that echo the castle’s roof.
Inside, each guestroom is adorned with natural wood finishes and floor-to-ceiling windows, framing Osaka’s dynamic cityscape and the tranquil castle grounds. The result is a contemporary sanctuary rooted in traditional Japanese aesthetics.
Art, design, and music are integral to the property’s identity. Verdy, a globally recognized Japanese artist, contributes as Creative Partner, curating an exclusive merchandise collection that highlights Osaka’s street culture. Meanwhile, renowned audio engineer Devon Turnbull (OJAS) has crafted The Listening Room by OJAS, a high-fidelity space where audiophiles can explore vinyl through custom-built speakers, blending sonic precision with visual artistry.
Wellness also takes center stage with the 1,400m² Patina Spa, which merges cutting-edge health technologies with traditional treatments. This advanced facility underscores Patina Osaka’s vision of a holistic hospitality experience, aligning body, mind, and spirit.
