Radisson Hotel Group has passed the milestone of 100 hotels in Africa across properties in operation and under development, underlining the pace of its regional expansion. Over the last 12 months, the group signed more than 15 new hotels and around 2,500 rooms, setting a new benchmark for its growth on the continent. The latest momentum has also included new market entries in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Zimbabwe, while priority markets continue to include Morocco, South Africa and Nigeria. With this progress, Radisson Hotel Group is sharpening its path toward its 2030 growth ambition and reinforcing its presence in both city and resort destinations.

The milestone reflects a strategy built on scale, speed and a strong use of hotel conversions. Radisson Blu continues to anchor the group’s legacy footprint in Africa, while the Radisson brand has emerged as the fastest-growing part of the portfolio, supported by a conversion engine that is translating quickly into openings. Over the last five years, Radisson and Radisson Blu have ranked among the most-signed brands on the continent, with one of the highest shares of cumulative openings. In the same period, more than 15 hotels representing almost 3,000 rooms joined the system through conversion, helping the group expand efficiently while maintaining brand standards and responding to owner expectations.

Much of the current growth story is centred on a balanced pipeline that spans business hotels, resorts, serviced apartments and quick-to-market conversion opportunities. In Nigeria, the group now has 13 hotels in operation and pipeline, with Abuja alone carrying three pipeline hotels totalling 458 keys, showing the resilience of the model in one of Africa’s most important economies. In South Africa, the strategy is being reshaped around stronger priorities in Cape Town, selective expansion in secondary cities such as Durban and Pretoria, and a sharper focus on leisure corridors including Kruger National Park, Sun City and the Garden Route. The group also plans to enter Zanzibar and is exploring lodge, safari and affiliation opportunities in Namibia, Botswana and Zambia to capture rising demand for nature-led travel.

The latest signings illustrate just how broad this expansion has become. In the Democratic Republic of Congo, Radisson Blu Hotel, Kinshasa is scheduled to open in late 2026 as an upper-upscale flagship in Gombe with 110 keys, dining venues, wellness facilities, an outdoor pool and meeting space. Lubumbashi is also set to receive a trio of projects: Radisson Hotel Lubumbashi, Radisson Blu Apartments Lubumbashi and Radisson Airport Hotel Lubumbashi, together strengthening the group’s presence in the country’s second city. In Zimbabwe, the company is entering the market with Radisson Serviced Apartments, Harare in Borrowdale and Park Inn by Radisson Victoria Falls Resort, a leisure-driven project positioned near one of the world’s most recognisable natural attractions.

North and West Africa are also central to the next phase. In Morocco, the pipeline includes Radisson Blu Hotel & Conference Center, Casablanca Bouskoura, Radisson Hotel & Apartments Rabat Technopolis, and Radisson Blu Resort Marrakech Ben Akil, reflecting a blend of conference, city and resort development. In Egypt, the group is planning Radisson Resort Ain Sokhna Groove, a large-scale Red Sea resort with 469 rooms, alongside Radisson Serviced Apartments COY Sheikh Zayed City, aimed at the growing extended-stay segment in Greater Cairo. In Nigeria, future projects include Radisson Hotel Aba, Radisson Hotel & Conference Center Yenagoa, and Radisson Collection Hotel, Lagos Atlantic, the latter adding refined lifestyle luxury in Victoria Island, the country’s main financial and commercial district.

With a footprint stretching across more than 30 African countries, Radisson Hotel Group now claims one of the most diverse regional portfolios on the continent. That diversity is becoming one of its strongest competitive advantages, allowing the company to deepen its position in core markets while selectively entering new destinations each year. The passing of the 100-hotel mark is therefore more than a symbolic achievement. It signals a group that is actively converting pipeline into openings, broadening its brand distribution, and building a stronger long-term platform across Africa’s hospitality market.
