Radisson RED Auckland has officially opened, giving Radisson Hotel Group its first property in New Zealand and bringing the Radisson RED brand to Australasia for the first time. Set in the heart of Auckland’s Arts District, the hotel is positioning itself as a design-led, community-minded lifestyle hotel in the city’s Central Business District. The opening expands Radisson’s footprint into a new market while aiming to capture travellers drawn to culture, entertainment, and urban energy. A major headline feature is what the group describes as the country’s largest rooftop space.

Located at 33 Lorne Street, Radisson RED Auckland is built around a bold social proposition, combining a vibrant rooftop bar with rooftop event spaces designed for everything from celebrations to corporate sessions. The hotel is also positioning itself among Auckland’s relatively limited pet-friendly options, welcoming guests traveling with their dogs.

The property offers 322 guest rooms and suites, with interiors shaped by gallery-style installations, immersive lighting, and sensory design cues linked to the surrounding arts scene. Public spaces reference performance culture with corridor lighting intended to evoke stage spotlights and lounge seating inspired by opera boxes, while guestrooms lean into an “artist backstage” feel through layered textures, expressive colour, and curated artwork. For guests prioritising views, higher-floor rooms are positioned toward the skyline, and the Suite Panorama is highlighted for sweeping vistas that take in Auckland City, Albert Park, and the harbour.

Food and drink are central to the hotel’s identity. Alongside an all-day dining venue and bar for casual social moments, the hotel is preparing to open its Rooftop Restaurant & Bar, described as the largest outdoor rooftop space in New Zealand and framed as a high-energy setting for dining, cocktails, and events with open-air views toward the Sky Tower. The rooftop is also designed as a flexible functions platform with capacity for up to 219 guests in a cocktail-style setup, configurable into four rooms with natural light to support varied formats.

Beyond the social spaces, the hotel includes a fitness centre operating daily from 5AM to 11PM, reinforcing the practical requirements of modern city breaks and business travel. Its central positioning also places guests close to major attractions including the Art Gallery, Civic Theatre, Sky Tower, Auckland Museum, Waiheke Island, and West Coast beaches, strengthening its appeal as a base for both short leisure stays and longer urban itineraries. Leadership commentary in the announcement is attributed to Tim Cordon and Reinout Engel, underlining the opening as a brand milestone and a new lifestyle-led option for Auckland’s hotel market.
