Rivella Group is set to expand its Costa Rican portfolio with the launch of Hotel Fermata, a new 35-room beachfront hotel in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica, scheduled to open on December 22, 2025. Positioned directly in front of the La Lora surf break, the property will cater to surf enthusiasts, wellness seekers and families looking for an oceanfront escape. With a mix of rooms, casitas, suites and a two-bedroom villa, the hotel is designed for couples, groups of friends and multigenerational stays. Built with eco-friendly materials and energy-efficient systems, Hotel Fermata will aim to combine low-impact design with a full-service resort experience.

The new opening strengthens the presence of Rivella Group, which already operates Outpost Nosara, Sendero Hotel and Sendero Villas in Costa Rica. By choosing Santa Teresa and the high-profile La Lora surf break as its next location, the group is positioning the property at the heart of one of the country's most sought-after coastal communities for surfing and relaxed, design-forward stays. The relatively intimate key count of 35 rooms is intended to maintain a boutique feel while still delivering a wide amenity base.

Accommodation at Hotel Fermata will span standard rooms, freestanding casitas, suites and a two-bedroom villa, giving guests multiple options depending on party size and style of travel. The configuration is planned to appeal to couples on longer surf or wellness stays, small groups traveling together and families needing more space and privacy. Across categories, the emphasis is on flexibility and tailoring the stay to different types of guests rather than a one-size-fits-all resort model.

Food and beverage will be anchored by Fermata Kitchen, an oceanfront restaurant led by Chef Olivier Palazzo. The culinary concept will center on Mediterranean flavors executed with French techniques, positioning the restaurant as a gastronomic focal point for the hotel and a potential draw for non-resident diners. With its beachfront setting, Fermata Kitchen is expected to play a key role in the overall guest experience, from leisurely daytime meals to sunset dinners overlooking the surf.

The lifestyle offering is rounded out by a members-only Beach House aimed at the local and visiting surf community, a dedicated surf school with direct beach access, a resort-style pool and a children's activity program. This combination positions Hotel Fermata as both a base for serious surfers and a family-friendly resort where non-surfers can enjoy pool time, structured kids' activities and relaxed beachfront lounging.

A wellness spa will complement the active side of the property, giving guests a space to recover and unwind after time in the ocean or on the sand. Throughout the build, the project is using eco-friendly materials and energy-efficient systems to reduce environmental impact, aligning the hotel with Costa Rica's broader focus on sustainable tourism. With an opening date set for December 22, 2025, Hotel Fermata is already accepting bookings and is slated to become a new beachfront option in Santa Teresa for travelers seeking a design-led, surf-adjacent escape.
