Sofitel Montreal Golden Mile Unveils Complete Redesign, Ushering in a New Era of French Luxury in Canada
Sofitel, the pioneer of French luxury hospitality, has unveiled the full transformation of its flagship property, the Sofitel Montreal Golden Mile, marking a new chapter for the brand in North America. The redesign embodies the fusion of Parisian elegance and Montreal’s creative spirit, celebrating Sofitel’s 60th anniversary with a bold redefinition of its global luxury identity under the leadership of CEO Maud Bailly.
Located on Sherbrooke Street in the heart of downtown Montreal, the rejuvenated property sits among the city’s premier boutiques, cultural landmarks, and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. The completed multi-phase transformation by 2pirdesign brings new vibrancy to the hotel, positioning it as both a cultural and hospitality landmark that honors Sofitel’s rich heritage while embracing modern sensibilities.
The interiors evoke the warmth of a Parisian residence, artfully blending rose and bronze accents, sculptural lighting, rich textures, and locally inspired artworks. From the grand foyer to the reimagined corridors and guestrooms, every space reflects a narrative of timeless refinement and contemporary creativity.
The hotel’s 256 guestrooms, including 17 suites, have been meticulously redesigned to harmonize comfort and elegance. Featuring teal murals, bronze-toned minibars, and marble bathrooms with Balmain amenities, the rooms create a sensory experience rooted in understated luxury. The Prestige Corner and Golden Mile Suites boast toasted red and mint hues, while the Presidential Suite offers theatrical interiors, statement lighting, and curated artwork for an immersive stay. Each guestroom includes the signature Sofitel MY BED and “The Art of Sleep” program, which introduces personalized rituals—from calming teas to optimized ambient lighting—crafted for restorative rest.
Dining takes center stage with the fully reimagined RENOIR Restaurant and the introduction of NINI Cocktail Lounge. At RENOIR, Executive Chef Olivier Perret presents French cuisine infused with Quebecois flavors, complemented by Pastry Chef Paul Peyrat’s refined desserts. The light-filled dining room and sunroom embody French Impressionist influences, creating a relaxed yet elegant atmosphere. Meanwhile, NINI, named after Renoir’s muse Nini Lopez, offers a rose-gold bar, bespoke lighting, and a chic ambiance that transitions seamlessly from day to night.
Event and meeting spaces also received a modern transformation, featuring artful touches and design elements that celebrate Montreal’s artistic heritage. Venues such as the Picasso Ballroom and Monet-Chagall Rooms now serve as sophisticated backdrops for gatherings, accented by custom mosaics from local artists.
The hotel continues the global Sofitel Candle Ritual, a daily ceremony inspired by 19th-century Paris, symbolizing the harmony of Parisian refinement and Montreal warmth.
With its transformation complete, Sofitel Montreal Golden Mile reaffirms its place as the epitome of modern French luxury in Canada. The renovation also reflects Sofitel’s wider global repositioning, with one-third of its network currently under refurbishment—including the Sofitel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills and Sofitel New York—and 32 new hotels in development worldwide, from Portugal to Vietnam.
