Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island Unveils Comprehensive Renovation
Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island, a AAA Four Diamond oceanfront destination, has completed a full-property, multi-million-dollar renovation that redefines upscale Lowcountry hospitality. Finalized in 2025, the extensive transformation spans from revitalized guestrooms and culinary venues to upgraded event spaces and wellness facilities, creating a seamless blend of coastal elegance and modern comfort for leisure and business travelers alike.
The resort’s refreshed aesthetic begins in its newly redesigned lobby, where guests are greeted by a soothing, beach-inspired color palette, a custom wood-paneled reception desk, and the resort’s signature Tapestry of Self—an art installation that weaves together Hilton Head’s defining landscapes and local heritage.
The resort’s 340 guestrooms have been entirely updated with sophisticated, island-inspired interiors introduced during phase one of the project in 2024. Phase two of the renovation expands the guest experience across all areas of the property. Seacrest Restaurant and Terrace now offers locally inspired breakfast and dinner in a warm setting featuring lagoon views, wave-patterned banquettes, and ocean-toned décor. Nearby, the Sweet Cane Bar and Grille offers poolside refreshments, while Sea Glass Market & Provisions serves grab-and-go artisanal fare throughout the day.
Two new venues bring fresh culinary flair to the resort: Driftwood Rum Bar, a cozy lounge spotlighting local spirits and small bites, and The Patio, which combines rattan accents, firepits, and live sports with an indoor-outdoor gastropub ambiance.
Outdoor enhancements include a brand-new hot tub and relaxation pool, complete with private cabanas, updated fire pits, and expanded lounge seating. Guests can also shop at the new Sea Glass Provisions Shop, featuring coastal gifts and resort essentials.
Business and group travelers will find over 23,000 square feet of revitalized meeting space, including the grand Santee Ballroom and 17 reimagined meeting rooms. The flexible venues—indoor and outdoor—are designed for everything from corporate conferences to beachfront weddings, all set within the resort’s 11-acre landscaped property.
Completing the transformation is the rebranding of The Spa at Sonesta, formerly Arum Spa. The wellness center now offers a bespoke experience that combines astrology-themed treatments with classic spa therapies, creating a deeply personalized journey of relaxation and restoration. Guests can also utilize the 24-hour fitness center, which now includes Peloton bikes and upgraded ADA-compliant features.
