StepStone Hospitality appoints Jeff Miller as chief development officer
StepStone Hospitality has appointed Jeff Miller as Chief Development Officer, strengthening its executive leadership team as the company continues to pursue strategic portfolio growth. In his new role, Miller will lead business development efforts and focus on expanding StepStone’s hotel management platform. The company currently manages 40 hotels representing more than 6,500 guestrooms. His appointment brings additional development, sales and revenue strategy expertise to a management company focused on full-service and select-service hotel operations.
Miller joins StepStone Hospitality with significant experience across the hotel management sector. His background includes sourcing new business, driving revenue growth and executing hotel management agreements across a mix of branded and unbranded properties. This combination gives him a strong foundation for a development role built around owner relationships, portfolio expansion and long-term value creation.
Most recently, Miller served as Vice President of Business Development at Aimbridge Hospitality. During his time with the company, he negotiated hotel management agreements for more than 30 properties. That work contributed to the growth of Aimbridge’s platform and helped strengthen relationships with ownership partners.
Before the Prism / Aimbridge merger in 2022, Miller held leadership roles at Prism Hotels & Resorts. His work there included business development responsibilities as well as operational sales oversight. He also oversaw more than 10 hotels as a Vice President of Sales, giving him experience at both portfolio and property level.
Earlier in his career, Miller built a strong foundation in hotel sales and revenue strategy. He held senior sales leadership roles with Interstate Hotels & Resorts, TPG Hospitality, HEI Hotels and White Lodging. Across those positions, he focused on market share, top-line revenue growth and sales team leadership.
That sales-driven background is particularly relevant to the chief development officer position. Business development in hotel management depends not only on identifying potential opportunities, but also on understanding owner expectations, market performance and the operational levers that can improve hotel value. Miller’s career path gives him direct exposure to each of those areas.
For StepStone Hospitality, the appointment supports a continued emphasis on strategic expansion. The company specialises in full-service and select-service hotel operations, serving ownership groups through management strategies designed to complement investment objectives. Adding a dedicated chief development officer reinforces the company’s intention to grow its management footprint.
The role will likely be central to strengthening StepStone’s relationships with hotel owners, investors and brand partners. Management companies operate in a competitive environment where owners seek partners that can combine operational discipline with commercial execution. Miller’s experience negotiating management agreements and developing owner relationships directly aligns with those needs.
The appointment also reflects the importance of business development leadership in today’s hotel management sector. As owners evaluate performance, repositioning, brand affiliation and operating models, management companies must demonstrate both flexibility and results. Executives with experience across branded and independent assets can help position a company for a wider range of opportunities.
StepStone’s current portfolio of 40 hotels and more than 6,500 rooms gives Miller an established platform from which to pursue growth. The company’s scale is large enough to demonstrate operating capability, while still leaving room for strategic expansion in targeted markets and asset types. The chief development officer role is designed to build on that platform.
Miller’s background across major hotel management and hospitality companies also gives him a broad view of the industry. His experience spans large management platforms, sales organisations and property-level leadership. This perspective can help StepStone evaluate opportunities not only by deal volume, but by long-term fit, owner alignment and performance potential.
The appointment comes at a time when hotel owners continue to seek management partners capable of navigating shifting demand, cost pressure, labour dynamics and brand requirements. Strong management agreements increasingly depend on trust, transparency and a clear path to asset value. Miller’s track record in business development and sales leadership positions him to support those conversations.
For StepStone, the addition of Miller is also a signal of confidence in future growth. By appointing a chief development officer, the company is placing business expansion at the executive level. This structure gives development efforts a clear leadership point while connecting new opportunities to the company’s broader operating strategy.
With Jeff Miller now serving as Chief Development Officer, StepStone Hospitality is strengthening its ability to pursue new hotel management opportunities, deepen ownership relationships and expand a portfolio that already includes 40 hotels and more than 6,500 guestrooms. His experience with Aimbridge Hospitality, Prism Hotels & Resorts, Interstate Hotels & Resorts, TPG Hospitality, HEI Hotels and White Lodging brings a seasoned development and sales perspective to the company’s next phase of growth.
