The largest hotel groups and brands in Europe 2019

According to the STR report, Accor maintains the highest position among hotel groups in Europe, and Ibis is the largest hotel brand on the continent, according to the STR 500 report.

With 330,863 rooms, Accor significantly outpaced the two following hotel groups in Europe - Jin Jiang International (147,416) and InterContinental Hotels Group (118,025). Meanwhile, Ibis (83,303) is one of the four brands with over 50,000 rooms in the region.

"Global companies have seen steady growth in Europe as an additional incentive to expand their portfolios in the region," said Alexander Robinson, Senior Manager of Industry Partners at STR. "Looking at the hotel offering across Europe, we see a range of segments represented by chains - primarily economy, midscale, upper midscale, and upper upscale - but the expansion of the economy product is quite evident with the presence of Premier Inn and Ibis Budget, both in terms of existing supply and development. We expect Europe to remain a key focal point on the global development scene."
