Thompson Seville is set to debut in late 2026 in the landmark La Gavidia building in Plaza de la Concordia, at the heart of Seville’s historic centre. The opening will mark the first Thompson Hotels property in Andalusia and will continue the brand’s expansion in Spain following Thompson Madrid. Designed as a contemporary gathering place for travellers and locals, the hotel will combine architecture, gastronomy, design and local culture. With 101 guestrooms and suites, rooftop leisure spaces, event facilities and a dining programme rooted in Sevillian tradition, the property is positioned as a distinctive new lifestyle address in the city.

Thompson Seville will occupy one of the city’s most recognisable architectural landmarks. The La Gavidia building, originally designed by Ramón Montserrat Ballesté, is closely associated with Seville’s Modern Movement and is being transformed into a hotel that preserves its architectural character while introducing a new hospitality purpose. The project gives the building a fresh chapter while keeping its connection to the city’s urban and cultural identity.

The design of the hotel is being led by Proyecto Singular, with an approach that blends contemporary hospitality with references to Seville’s history, traditions and creative energy. Rather than treating the property as a standard urban hotel, the concept is built around the character of the city itself. The aim is to create a place that feels connected to local life, from its architecture and materials to its dining and social spaces.

Accommodation will include 101 guestrooms and suites designed with warm materials, natural textures, artisanal finishes and subtle references to Andalusian identity. Room categories will range from city-view guestrooms to terrace suites and the Thompson Suite, which will feature a private terrace and sweeping views across the city. The interiors are intended to create a residential atmosphere where refined details meet the energy and spirit of Seville.

The guest experience will extend beyond the rooms through rooftop and wellness-focused amenities. A rooftop pool will provide a leisure setting above the city, while a rooftop fitness centre will offer views across Seville’s skyline. These features give the hotel a relaxed lifestyle dimension, supporting both short city stays and longer leisure-focused visits.

Gastronomy will be one of the defining elements of Thompson Seville. The hotel’s dining programme is being developed with Grupo Manolo Mayo, one of Seville’s respected restaurant groups, known for its focus on Andalusian cuisine, seasonal ingredients and local culinary traditions. This partnership gives the hotel a strong food-led identity rooted in the region rather than imported from outside the destination.

As part of the project, the local restaurant Mayo Sevilla will close its existing location and begin a new chapter inside the hotel under the name Casa Mayo. The concept will bring the spirit of a classic gastronomic house into Thompson Seville, connecting the property with the culinary identity of Seville and Andalusia. Its interior design, created by architect Pablo Baruc, is planned as a warm and contemporary setting where craftsmanship and ingredients remain central.

The hotel will also feature a Lobby Bar on the ground floor, designed as an all-day social space for guests, travellers and locals. Its offer will move from morning coffee to midday aperitifs and evening cocktails. A daily Sherry Hour around 6 p.m. will bring together Jerez wines, small bites and music, creating a ritual that reflects the region’s social and wine culture.

On the rooftop, the Rooftop Pool Deck & Bar will add another layer to the hotel’s food and beverage experience. The space will include a pool, lounge area and light menu designed for daytime relaxation and sunset gatherings. Drinks, spritzes, chilled wines, small bites and Andalusian influences will shape a setting that becomes more social as the evening progresses.

Thompson Seville will also offer 240 square metres of event and meeting space on the ground floor. The area will include four independent rooms with the option to connect them, integrated audiovisual equipment and an interior patio. This flexibility will allow the hotel to host corporate meetings, presentations, social celebrations and weddings in the historic centre of Seville.

With its planned late 2026 opening, Thompson Seville will bring a lifestyle hotel experience to one of the city’s most significant buildings. The project combines the architectural legacy of La Gavidia, the culinary strength of Grupo Manolo Mayo, rooftop hospitality and locally inspired design. As Thompson Hotels expands its presence in Spain, the Seville property is set to become a new urban gathering place shaped by culture, gastronomy and contemporary Andalusian hospitality.
