Utter Inn - a hotel floating on water
If you want to know how fish spend most of their time underwater, you absolutely must visit this hotel. Created by Mikael Genberg, the hotel is a floating cottage on Lake Mälaren in Sweden, with its rooms submerged 3 meters below the lake's surface. The rooms have built-in full-wall windows so guests can experience the underwater atmosphere while lying on their hotel beds.

The underwater Utter Inn hotel on a Swedish lake near Stockholm was conceived by Mikael Genberg, a local sculptor artist, who decided to dedicate himself to "creating public art." A single hotel room is located 3 meters below the surface of Lake Mälaren in Vasteras, Sweden, equipped only with a bed and a table.
The hotel opened in June 2000 on the coldest, rainiest day of the entire summer season at that time. Despite this, the new, original hotel was a great success. All proposed technical solutions worked perfectly, and the hotel attracted and continues to attract many guests.
Utter Inn arouses the most typical Swedish dreams of owning a small red cottage on one's own island. The biggest attraction of the facility is that you can spend the night three meters underwater, with panoramic windows in all directions. Such an alternative accommodation also excites the possibility of taking risks and adventures, which enhance sensory experiences.
Guests arriving at Utter Inn come to the port in Vasteras, from where they are transported a kilometer from the shore to the hotel on Lake Mälaren, equipped with an inflatable boat, instructions, and left to themselves. If you choose the deluxe option, you can expect a late dinner delivery. Guests also have the opportunity to use an inflatable kayak to visit the nearest uninhabited island.
Often, boats passing by come quite close to the hotel out of curiosity to see the bold residents of the hotel, but Swedish watermen are well-behaved and never circumnavigate your room more than twice!
