voco Udaipur strengthens IHG’s premium growth in Rajasthan
IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a management agreement with Circle View Estate Private Ltd to develop voco Udaipur, bringing the group’s premium brand to one of India’s most recognised leisure destinations. Scheduled to open in Q1 2029, the 140-key newbuild hotel will be located on the foothills of the Aravalli hills, with views overlooking the city. The signing marks an important step in voco’s growth journey in India and reinforces IHG’s premium portfolio in high-potential destinations. With guestrooms, dining, events, wellness and leisure facilities, the hotel is positioned for both leisure and business travellers visiting the City of Lakes.
voco Udaipur will bring a distinctive premium hospitality experience to Udaipur, a destination known for its history, culture and scenic appeal. The city continues to attract strong demand from both domestic and international travellers, supported by its established reputation as a leading leisure market. Its growing importance for weddings, meetings and events makes it especially attractive for premium branded hotel development.
The hotel will be set on the foothills of the Aravalli hills, giving the property a strong sense of place and scenic positioning. Views overlooking the city will help connect the hotel experience with Udaipur’s landscape and cultural identity. This setting supports the brand’s promise of individual character while adding a destination-led dimension to the future property.
The planned hotel will feature 140 guestrooms and suites, designed to serve travellers looking for a premium and memorable stay experience. It will also include two dining options, including an all-day dining restaurant and a bar. These venues will support guests throughout the day and create social spaces suited to both leisure visits and business travel.
Events and meetings will form an important part of the hotel’s offer. voco Udaipur will include ample meeting and event space, allowing the property to serve weddings, corporate meetings and social gatherings. This is particularly relevant in Udaipur, where the hospitality market is strongly connected to destination weddings and event-led travel.
Leisure and wellness facilities will add further depth to the guest experience. The hotel will include a swimming pool, fitness centre and spa, creating a well-rounded stay in one of India’s most iconic destinations. These amenities will help position the property as more than a city hotel, giving it the character of a premium leisure address.
The voco brand is well suited to high-potential urban and leisure markets. It combines the informality and charm of an individual hotel with the quality and reassurance of a global hotel company. This balance makes it especially relevant for destinations such as Udaipur, where travellers often seek local character, comfort and trusted service standards in one stay.
The brand is centred around the hallmarks of Come on in, Me time and voco life. These pillars are associated with thoughtful touches, distinctive personality and a consistently premium guest experience. For voco Udaipur, they will help shape a hotel that reflects the character and cultural richness of the destination while remaining connected to IHG’s international systems.
The signing also reflects IHG’s continued focus on India as a strategically important market. Sudeep Jain, Managing Director, South West Asia, IHG Hotels & Resorts, is named in the announcement in connection with the group’s effort to strengthen its portfolio in destinations with long-term demand and strong owner interest. The release also identifies voco as IHG’s fastest-growing premium brand globally.
For owners, the brand offers the backing of IHG’s enterprise platform, commercial expertise and brand systems. This is an important part of the value proposition for hotel developments in competitive and evolving markets. In Udaipur, the combination of a premium global brand and a culturally strong destination creates a clear opportunity to capture multiple segments of demand.
Circle View Estate Private Ltd is the development partner for the project. Nakul Karnawat, Director of Circle View Estate Private Ltd, is named in the release in connection with the partnership and the suitability of voco’s brand personality for the Udaipur market. The partnership brings together local ownership and IHG’s international hospitality platform.
The project also supports IHG’s wider growth in India. The group currently has 52 hotels operating across six brands in India, including Six Senses, InterContinental Hotels and Resorts, Crowne Plaza, voco, Holiday Inn Resort and Holiday Inn Express. It also has a strong pipeline of 98 hotels due to open over the next three to five years.
Globally, IHG Hotels & Resorts has a family of 21 hotel brands and IHG One Rewards, one of the world’s largest hotel loyalty programmes with more than 160 million members. The group has more than one million rooms across 7,000 hotels in more than 100 countries, with a development pipeline of a further 2,300 properties. This scale gives future hotels such as voco Udaipur access to a broad commercial and loyalty platform.
With voco Udaipur, IHG Hotels & Resorts is adding a premium brand to a destination shaped by lakes, hills, palaces, weddings and cultural tourism. The project combines a newbuild 140-key hotel, scenic foothill location, dining, events, spa, pool and fitness facilities with the distinctive personality of voco. Scheduled for Q1 2029, the hotel is set to strengthen IHG’s ability to capture demand across one of India’s most dynamic hospitality destinations.
