World’s 50 Best Hotels reveals 2026 extended ranking

Hong Kong contributes Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong at No.59 and Four Seasons Hong Kong at No.86, while Mainland China is represented by Mandarin Oriental Shenzhen at No.90 and The Peninsula Shanghai at No.99.

India has two hotels in the extended ranking. Independent Jaipur property The Johri takes the No.94 position, while The Oberoi Udaivilas in Udaipur enters the list for the first time at No.98.

Italy's representation also includes Splendido in Portofino at No.60, Castiglion del Bosco at No.62, Orient Express La Minerva in Rome at No.66 and Forestis Dolomites at No.68. Further entries are Borgo Santandrea at No.84, Borgo Egnazia at No.88, Villa Treville at No.91 and Reschio at No.95.

France has four properties represented. Alongside La Réserve Paris, Ritz Paris enters the list at No.72, Carlton Cannes takes No.80 and The Maybourne Riviera returns at No.93.

The United Kingdom is represented by Rosewood London, a new entry at No.56, and Gleneagles in Auchterarder, which closes the extended ranking at No.100. Türkiye contributes independently owned Maçakızı in Bodrum at No.76.

North America accounts for nine hotels, five of them located in the United States. Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles leads the continent at No.57, while The Beverly Hills Hotel is ranked No.65.

New York City places three hotels in the ranking. The Fifth Avenue Hotel comes in at No.78 and has also been named winner of the American Express Travel One To Watch Award. It is followed by Aman New York at No.87 and The Greenwich Hotel at No.92.

Oceania is represented by Huka Lodge in Taupō, New Zealand, at No.82 and The Calile in Brisbane, Australia, at No.83. Africa has one property in the ranking, with Marrakech's La Mamounia taking the No.75 position.

The expanded 51-100 ranking was introduced in 2025 as a way of recognising a broader range of hotels and hospitality professionals beyond the traditional Top 50. This year's list includes 10 independent hotels, alongside properties belonging to many of the world's leading luxury hospitality groups.

The ranking is determined by more than 800 anonymous members of The World’s 50 Best Hotels Academy, comprising hoteliers, travel journalists, hotel educators, business travellers and experienced luxury travellers. The Academy is divided across 13 geographic regions, with at least a quarter of each voting panel renewed annually.

Each voter selects seven hotels in order of preference, based on properties they have personally stayed at during the preceding three-year voting period. Voting is conducted individually and confidentially, while Deloitte serves as the independent adjudicator with access to the voting process and data.

The extended ranking now sets the stage for the announcement of The World’s 50 Best Hotels 2026, which will take place on 15 September at Les Salles du Carrousel in Paris. The ceremony will reveal the properties occupying positions No.1 to No.50 and complete this year's global picture of the hotels recognised by the Academy as leaders in international hospitality.
