Zostel has entered the premium hospitality segment with the launch of Zo Selections, a new social premium brand under parent company Zo World. The first property, Zo Selections Jaipur by Zostel, introduces private rooms and jacuzzi suites while retaining the community-focused approach that has shaped Zostel since its beginnings in 2013. The concept is aimed at a generation of former backpackers who are now travelling with partners, families and colleagues but still value social interaction and shared experiences. Further Zo Selections properties are already planned across several Indian leisure destinations.

The launch represents an evolution of Zostel's existing hospitality model rather than a complete departure from it. Since starting with a 24-bed hostel in Jodhpur in 2013, the company has developed a network of approximately 5,000 beds across India, Nepal and Thailand and recorded more than five million journeys.

Zo Selections has been created partly in response to the changing preferences of the travellers who built their relationship with Zostel during the company's early years. Many are now in their thirties and increasingly travel as couples, families, corporate groups or professionals, creating demand for more sophisticated private accommodation without abandoning the social character associated with the brand.

The new concept therefore combines premium rooms and service with communal experiences. Rather than focusing primarily on privacy and separation, Zo Selections incorporates opportunities for guests to interact through bonfires, workshops, sundowners and other organised activities.

The model is intended to appeal to a broad audience including entrepreneurs, couples, families and corporate offsite groups. Shared spaces and curated programming are positioned as a fundamental part of the stay rather than an additional amenity.

At Zo Selections Jaipur by Zostel, the design draws inspiration from the city's identity through pastel interiors influenced by the Pink City. Expansive common areas and dedicated workstations support both social interaction and remote working.

Food and beverage is centred on Amaano, the property's in-house restaurant, which incorporates Rajasthani flavours into its culinary offering and strengthens the connection between the hotel and its destination.

Across the wider Zo Selections portfolio, properties will be developed around three consistent principles - proactive service, locally rooted design and personalised experiences shaped around how individual travellers want to spend their time.

According to Aviral Gupta, CEO of Zostel, the company sees the premium segment as an opportunity to continue serving its established traveller community as their accommodation requirements evolve. Rather than reproducing a conventional luxury hotel model, Zo Selections is intended to maintain the emphasis on people and social connection that defined the original Zostel concept.

Jaipur will be followed by Zo Selections Gokarna, a coastal property being developed around the idea of slow travel. A wider expansion roadmap also includes planned destinations in Mussoorie, Pench and Lonavla.

The new brand joins a wider Zo World portfolio that already includes Zostel Plus, focused on premium hostels with design-led spaces and curated experiences, Zostel Homes for nature-oriented stays and Zo House, the company's permanent hacker house network.

The introduction of Zo Selections comes during a broader period of rapid expansion for Zo World. During the past year, Zostel reached its 100th property, established its first international location in Phuket and expanded its European presence through Safestay across more than 20 destinations.

The company is now working toward a portfolio of 10,000 beds, with Zo Selections providing a new premium component within that growth strategy. By combining higher-end accommodation with the community-led philosophy established through its hostel network, Zostel is seeking to extend its relationship with travellers into a new stage of their lives and travel habits.
